MPs have called for a clearer focus from research funders, publishers, and academic institutions to ensure that research is transparent and reproducible.1
A report from the House of Commons Science, Innovation, and Technology Select Committee says that the integrity of some scientific research has been called into question because of difficulties in replicating findings. Some people have called this a “reproducibility crisis” but the committee concluded that there was not enough evidence as to the scale of the problem in the UK to use that term. The report called instead for a comprehensive and rigorous assessment of the extent of the matter.
