The NHS has agreed to pay compensation totalling more than £17m for birth injuries which have left a 19 year old man with cerebral palsy and cognitive impairment.1
The man, who has an anonymity order protecting his identity but is known as XX, was born in 2004 at the Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. He sustained a severe hypoxic brain injury shortly before he was delivered by emergency caesarean section after his mother’s uterus ruptured.
